Airmont Man Had Alcohol Level Twice The Legal Limit, Police Say

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have arrested a 56-year-old resident of Airmont on a DWI charge, police said.

The arrest came about when an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn onto Route 59 in Airmont about 5:25 p.m. Thursday, according to police.

The officer stopped the vehicle and investigated; the driver, identified as Terence Travers, was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody, police said.

The suspect has been charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit, according to police.

Travers was processed and released after posting bail.

He has been issued an appearance ticket for a future Airmont Justice Court date, police said.
